(Guelph-Eramosa , ON.) -On Sunday July 25th, 2010 at about 8:30pm County of Wellington OPP officers received numerous calls about an erratic driver coming into Fergus. The alert motorist told officers that the 2005 Ford Focus was passing unsafely, swerving in and out of traffic and had forced some oncoming cars to take evasive action. The car was last seen heading south at a high rate of speed on Highway 6 towards Guelph.

Police located the auto on Highway 6 near Wellington Road 7. When officers spoke to the driver they discovered that he had been drinking, and there was open liquor in the car.

Derek Alexander Byckalo aged 22 of Stoney Creek has been charged with Impaired Driving, Over 80 mgs and Dangerous Driving contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada as well as Drive With Liquor Readily Available under the Liquor Licence Act. Byckalo is scheduled to appear in Guelph court on August 9th, 2010 to answer to the charges.
