Theft May 12, 2010

(Fergus, ON.) -On Wednesday May 12th, 2010 at about 1:59pm County of Wellington OPP officers responded to a theft reported from Canadian Tire, at 950 Tower Street South in Fergus.

Police spoke to the store owner who reported that a man had backed up a 2003 GMC Van to the garden area at the front of the store. The driver loaded up four cedar trees from this area, entered the store and then left without paying.

William Secord aged 29 of RR2 Grand Valley has been charged with Theft under $5000.00 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. Secord is scheduled to appear in Guelph court on June 14th, 2010 to answer to the charge. The stolen trees have been recovered and returned to the store.
