(Elora, ON.) -On Wednesday March 31st, 2010 at about 2:59pm County of Wellington OPP officers were on Colborne Street, Elora, and monitoring traffic. Due to local complaints of speeders on this roadway officers were concentrating their efforts to curb this problem.

At this time Constable Frank Thornton spotted a blue Chevy Malibu, travelling well above the speed limit. The auto was clocked on radar at 102km/h in the 50 km/h zone. The officer also discovered that the driver had some open beer in the car.

Michael J. Alles aged 25 years of Elora has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle and Fail to Surrender Licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act as well as Drive With Open Liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act. Alles is scheduled to appear in Guelph court on Thursday May 19th, 2010 to answer to the charges.
